Packaging group Coveris Holdings is growing the flexible packaging capacity significantly at its Neuwied site in Germany in the areas of lamination and pouches.
Chicago-based Coveris has installed a high performance stand up pouch making machine designed to produce packs for the fast-growing wet food segment. Its technology will ensure tightly finished sealed seams and improved quality with the automatic ejection of defective pouches during production, explained the firm.
Coveris has also invested in a new triplex laminating unit offering increased capacity along with an extended product portfolio of tailored packaging options for group customers. The tandem unit, in full operation from this June, can run either in triplex mode or in parallel, simultaneous duplex mode.
New packs Coveris will be able to manufacture on this machine at the Neuwied site include inner wrapper coffee packaging to preserve flavor and offer essential environmental protection. The unit can make inner and outer wrappers for coffee brick packs and vacuum pouches, and allows for up to 9-color rotogravure print and a range of special decoration effects including hot stamping and embossed shape.
The latest investment makes Neuwied site a center of excellence in the areas of coffee and tea, pet foods and block-bottom bags.
