Stock shapes producer Ensinger Inc. has consolidated its cast nylon 6 operations in Grenloch, N.J., to boost efficiency.
Ensinger moved cast nylon equipment from its Washington, Pa., headquarters plant to Grenloch, where it already had been making cast nylon. Also part of the move was relocating extrusion capacity at Glenloch to Washington to bolster extrusion operations there.
“The processes for cast and extrusion are different,” said Ensinger marketing manager for the stock shapes division Bruce Dickinson by phone from Washington.
Coincident with the cast relocation, Ensinger upgraded casting equipment and improved processes. Dickinson said most of the cast equipment is proprietary to his company and he could not disclose upgrading details or cost.
Ensinger has been casting its Tecast nylon 6 in the United States since 1981 into stock shapes, near-net, custom shapes and parts. Products include disks and rings in a greater sizes range than that offered by most other suppliers, Ensinger claimed in a news release. Major markets for cast nylon shapes and parts are construction, food processing, industrial, energy, waste treatment and water treatment.
Ensinger’s stock shapes division also has plants in Houston, where it does compression molding, and in Putnam, Conn., where its injection molding business resides. The firm’s building products group makes high-end commercial window profiles from glass-filled nylon. | |
